The agent of Galatasaray defender Alex Telles has given Chelsea a boost in their pursuit for the Brazilian by confirming the player has an Italian passport. The left back has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer as they look to bring in a replacement for Filipe Luis, who recently re-joined Atletico Madrid.
Calciomercato have reported on comments Fernando Otto made in which he revealed there have been offers made by clubs for his client although nothing official has yet happened. Otto believes if Telles doesn’t move he will still be happy in Turkey but confirmed Chelsea wouldn’t have a problem signing the player because he has an Italian passport, and therefore wouldn’t need a work permit to play in England.
“There are many clubs who are making offers for him, although nothing official has been done and he is still happy to be at Galatasaray. He could play for Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain as he has an Italian passport, “said his agent on the interest from Chelsea.
Telles has yet to play for the Brazil national team and therefore if the 22 year old didn’t have an EU passport Chelsea would have struggled to get a work permit to sign him. The Premier League side are keen to bring in a left back after Luis left the club this month after just one season. Chelsea have been linked with Telles but also Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam in the past few weeks.
