We know we repeat it almost every time a situation like this happens, but the last thing Arsenal need right now is an extra winger.
With the likes of Joel Campbell, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Mesut Özil all capable of playing there, another wide player seems unnecessary.
However, SportBild think Arsène Wenger (if he’s still there next season) doesn’t have enough of them, and could be targeting one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players this season: Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Armenian winger has scored 19 goals and assisted his teammates 23 times this season in 41 appearances, and with only one year left on his contract, the German magazine are scared a big, bad, rich English team will come snap him up.
Liverpool were reported to have come close last season, and could come back for more this summer, but Arsenal are also expected to join the race.
Represented by Mino Raiola, Mkhitaryan is sure to have a few suitors this summer, and Dortmund will have to be either very stubborn or offer him a new and much improved contract.
SportBild believe the player is valued at around €28m (£22m), and considering his form this year, Dortmund could ask for a bit more.
It seems unlikely considering the guarantee of Champions League next season with BVB, but at 27 years of age, the player could be relishing a different challenge before he hits 30.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
