Arsenal transfer collapses after medical passed, fee and personal terms agreed too

Despite claims way back in February that Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze would be having a medical at Arsenal, the deal has reportedly collapsed after the selling club didn’t accept the payment methods, according to reports from Portugal.

The claims are made this Wednesday by A Bola, who have interest in the matter since Chukwueze is also a target for Porto this window. Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are also said to be interested in the 17-year-old.

A Bola says that Arsenal had already reached a five-year deal with the youngster. Diamond Academy had accepted the €3m offer, but the transfer wasn’t sealed because the English side only wanted to pay half of that amount after Chucwueze reached a certain number of appearances for the first team.

As other big clubs are also interested, Diamond Academy decided to put negotiations on hold so they can get a bigger fee up front when selling their starlet.

A Bola's slant will of course always be more related to Portuguese interest, but it's quite an intriguing story if the claims are correct.
