And so it's back... our beloved Aston Villa kick of the 2013/14 Premier League season with an away trip to the Emirates

Its been a long Summer with all the positivity around the club and the manner in which we finished last season, we have shifted some of the dead wood and brought in more young, hungry players and I for one have not been this excited about a season for 4 years.

The Emirates has been a decent hunting ground over the past few years and is normally a pretty good game!

Arsenal havent really strengthened this Summer and have a few injury concerns, whilst Villa have a full squad to choose from apart from Sylla, N'Zogbia and Herd

My preferred line up would be

Guzan
Lowton Okore Vlaar Luna
Delph Westwood
Tonev
Gabby Benteke Weimann

I would drop KEA for Tonev to get some creativity personally and because Arsenal dont like teams attacking them, but an argument can be made for not going too 'gung-ho'

Predicted score - Heart says 2-1 Villa, head says 1-1 draw

Thoughts?

That team's OK. I'd play Sylla if he wasn't injured, but as he is it seems to be a question of KEA, Tonev or Bacuna for that position. Whoever it is has to stop Walcott, and I'm not sure who's best for that.

Lauro has us losing 2-0. I can't see us not scoring; question is will Arsenal score more? It's a good time to play them; they have injuries and we've had a good pre-season. I'll go for 3-3. A win is possible, a loss only slightly more probable.

I would also like to have Syllia in the team but I also look forward to seeing Tonev in action.

I hope that Helenius features at some point.

I think in view of their injuries, our form and their lack of new blood we could nick this

well I have £10 on us to win so I hope so Johnny!

I think it will be a good test for our midfield which I still think  - looking at the Malaga game - still could have the potential to get overrun. malaga are Arsenal-like in their passing and movement, but for me the one worry is Walcott as we couldn't deal effectively with Pawlowski from Malaga and I can see Walcott playing that role.

My head says 0-0 but we don't do clean sheets - oh dear!

I'm going to go mental and say 3-2 to Villa

By the way, nice review of the Villa game on Malaga's OS - calling VP one of the best stadiums in Europe!
