Cesc Fabregas rubbishes idea he ever wanted Manchester United move

Life is good for Cesc Fabregas. He's perhaps been Barcelona's most praised player so far this season and played a big role as the club have dealt with various injuries. The midfielder is probably the most popular he has been at the club and among supporters since he made the switch from Arsenal, there had been a lot of doubt surrounding his position and many had suggested that the club should have kept Thiago and sold Fabregas instead.

However, since Manchester United made a couple of efforts to sign him and he 'resisted' those and reaffirmed his commitment to the Catalan cause his popularity has soared and his performances have been good too. The club have repeated constantly how much they value Fabregas and he's gone from being on the periphery of the top players to right in the middle, there could even be a new contract on the way.

It's all worked out very well for the Spaniard. Funny that.

Today the player has done an interview with Spanish station TVE, picked up by Sport, during which he said "I have never said I wanted to go, nor have I discussed this with the president or coach. Cannot take it for a fact because some journalists say it on Twitter. My dream is still to succeed here."

Fabregas is a big fan of Twitter himself, but he's twisting the story there. The Catalan media, actual newspapers made out of paper, ran stories day after day about Barcelona wanting Fabregas to make a statement about the Manchester United interest. He appeared to leave it as long as possible and let the speculation reach a height.

The Manchester United interest has been very good for Fabregas and probably came at a time when he needed a boost. It's all worked out perfectly, which could be why he was so hesitant to put a stop to it.
