Manchester City travel to Stamford Bridge today for what will be one of the Premier League's biggest games so far this season. Both sides have had a tougher start to the season than Arsenal and ahead of tough games coming the way of Arsene Wenger's team, both will want to make sure they stay as close to the top of the league as possible.
Ahead of the Sunday afternoon showdown, both clubs are also in a battle for Porto's Nicolás Otamendi and it's a rumour which is growing throughout Europe. TMW, who presumably picked everything up from Portugal, say there's a battle and A Bola also cover it, with the gist being that Manchester City are sending scouts and rushing their interest because of the other clubs involved.
It's all different to what Spanish newspaper Marca reported at the beginning of the month. They said that a deal to take Otamendi to Chelsea was already done and that the player would be reporting to Jose Mourinho next season. There was no if, but or maybe about Marca's reporting and they're confident he's off to Chelsea, but they, along with most of Portugal, were also confident Garay was going to Manchester United.
Otamendi's contract with Porto ends in June 2015 so the club know that to cash in they need to do so soon. He's 25, an Argentine international centre back and can also play as a right back when needed.
Chelsea would not have been able to do the paperwork on a deal, even if Marca are correct, and so it does leave a little hope for other interested clubs. His buyout clause is €30 but any interested clubs will be looking for a discount on that.
