slightly worried that Lampard is starting, as he always always always scores against us :-(
would be delighted with a 0-0 draw to be honest...
Cmon the Villa!
Ain't going to be 0-0. We're 1-0 down, Luno og after Guzan clearance hit him.
We drop to 5th. Worst we can drop to is 12th.
Gabby, what a legend.
Benteke, business as usual...
but you know, we really have to nip this early goal thing in the bud. Or it will soon become a mental thing...
Ah, back to the top!
to be honest, the front three have been pretty crappy today.
The midfield have been awesome, but the front three have just been tracking whole game, so found it hard to get into the game.
Apart from his goal, Benteke done nought as well.
reminded me a bit of Bent...which i would rather not see again, if i am honest.
Pity. But we seem to be playing OK. We're becoming a lot harder to score against. And we've still got a positive goal difference. Okore and Tonev had an outing. Bring on Liverpool.
Wonder if Lambert will switch things at the front a bit for Liverpool. Like rest Weimann and play Helenius. Or Tonev. And if Okore's done OK and Baker and Clark are still injured then play him, or play him anyway.
I think we can say last season is behind us. Great!
i think that's a bit unfair on them to be honest .. they had far less shots yet the same on target as Chelsea i believe i seen that stat after the game. .. they are pretty clinical this season. although both of Weimann's chances went begging!oh had he just slightly mishit that volley i think it would have either sliced in at that near post or looped over Czech ...
I think we deserved a point. I think the decisions didn't go for us but then they went for us against arsenal so .. you win some.. you lose some ..
delph was so so good again last night and you can tell his tail is up ..he tried a few neat little tricks there and pulled them off! but when he gets the ball with a yard or too in front of him he carries it forward and he usually takes it round a player taking them out of the play
whats equally as impressive is its usually him winning the ball back that gives him these opportunities .. he won it quite a few times last night and Chelsea had no answer for his running at them through the middle. If he continues to improve on that it adds another element to our attack as we won't have to hit it as long or go wide so early delph can carry if forward allowing the front 3 to make their runs
Okore looks very very strong .. and not without a yard or two of pace .. just as he was described
good game to blood him in i think. - it will serve him well.
also FYI .. it was benteke that was marking ivanovic for the second goal. :-(
yeah, noticed Benteke holding his head in his hands when the goal went in. Just added to his frustration. It wont be often that defenders get the better of him, but have to say that Ivanovic won the duel last night! Hope he learns from it...and improves, cause in all honesty Benteke was pretty poor last night.
I don't think he was poor
he scored his only chance of the game, set up Wiemann for a clear cut chance and won something like 13 kick outs for us - his initial knock on started the move for Villa's goal
at other times he was just stranded doing nothing up front ..but what was he supposed to do without the ball .. when it was around him he chased it pressed when it was past him he hung up there as an outlet for a counter attack.
we only had 30% of the possession
I don't think we could have expected much more from him to be honest.
He let Ivanovic go for a free header for the goal but .. he is a striker foremost and he was back there defending corners against arsenal a few times on Saturday .. i think one lapse in concentration is offset by his one chance put away in brutally clinical fashion cancels it out.
I could be wrong - why do you think he was so poor ?
