I'm gonna start off the calls to bring Demba Ba to United. Berbatov, as much as I love him, looks like he's winding up his career at united, or at least having it wound up for him. When he leaves, we'll be left with Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck as our first choice strikers - Macheda's loan move to QPR will make or break him for United so i've not included him here.

Ba is only 26 at the moment, and he's clearly a goal scorer - 7 in 13-14 appearances for West Ham,  relegation side!I think he's a nice foil for Rooney, strong in the air, quick, physical etc. So I believe he has the attributes to be a success if we can steal him away.

Finally, a little less 'moral' reason to buy him is, quite simply, to stop others getting him. Chelsea have lost Anelka, Drogba's waning, Torres is spluttering, they need goals, and quick. Arsenal need a striker to help out/cover for RVP. City don't need him, but probably want him anyway. Tottenham could well be in for a strong first team striker of their own (despite having Defoe on their bench so often...)

So, whilst strike might not be the most important area we need to improve, I would like to see us go in for Demba Ba. As a replacement for Berbatov mainly, and i'd like to see us go for him in January, to make sure we beat the others to the punch.

Given the choice between Tiote, Cabaye and Ba, I think the latter the should the last option for you guys.  All three would probably take offers of £25m+ to tempt Newcastle into selling.  That trio along with Coloccini and Krul are the core of their team and the reason they have done so well this season.

completely agree, probably didn't make it clear enough in my intro. Cabaye and/or Tiote would be a great signing for the club. But if we could get Ba, perhaps by dipping into next year's funds, I don't see that as a bad thing.

We will NOT sign a striker this JAN because will not sign anyone in this window.
