Le10 have this evening reported that Everton will be sending scouts to watch Toulouse against Nancy on Saturday to monitor midfield target Etienne Capoue.
The midfielder has been dubbed the new Marouane Fellaini with the Premier League club keen to take the player in this month’s transfer window. With the possible departure of Fellaini are now looking to the future and see the 24 year old as an ideal replacement. Capoue is a versatile player who can play either play as a defensive midfielder or in defence.
The Sun had revealed yesterday that Everton are looking to sign the player for £10m and now it seems that the club want to look at the Frenchman more closely at the weekend.
However Everton will face competition from German side Hoffenheim after Le10 also revealed that the Bundesliga side are interested in his services but it is unlikely that they would make a move in this transfer window and would therefore wait until the summer. From reports in France Toulouse will not let the player go for under €12m. The French international still has 18 months left on his contract and it is unlikely that he will go on the cheap to either club.
Capoue joined the Toulouse youth team in 2005 and made his debut for the first team two years later. His performances last year earned him a call up to the French national team making his debut against Uruguay. Before that he had represented France at all youth levels including the under 21 team. Since making his debut for France in August last year he has gone on to make four appearances including a World Cup qualifier against Belarus when he scored his first goal for his country.
