Arriving from Aston Villa for £32.5m in the summer, Christian Benteke has yet to live up to his transfer fee in a Liverpool shirt.
Struggling to break into the first-team, especially since Daniel Sturridge has finally returned from injury, the Belgian striker’s lack of game time has caused many media outlets, in England and abroad, to already link him with a move away from Anfield.
This, as is the norm, is despite words from Klopp two days ago stating the player still had a future at Liverpool under his tutelage.
The latest in a series of unsubstantiated claims across Europe came from Fichajes, who came up with the idea that Arsenal were ready to make a shock move for Benteke in the summer.
Understandably suspicious about this, we contacted the player’s agent, Kismet Eris, who was kind enough to tell us Benteke wasn’t looking for an easy way out and ‘was only thinking about Liverpool at the moment’.
With an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League in the Premier League and the Europa League still to play for, the season is certainly not over yet for Liverpool, and Benteke will still have plenty of opportunities to make a difference.
