The FA have just released a statement saying they have charged the Liverpool player following incidents involving himself and Patrice Suarez.
The FA has today charged Liverpool’s Luis Suarez following an incident that occurred during the Liverpool versus Manchester United fixture at Anfield on 15 October 2011.
It is alleged that Suarez used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Manchester United’s Patrice Evra contrary to FA rules.
It is further alleged that this included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Patrice Evra.
The FA will issue no further comment at this time.
Liverpool have released the following statement:
The Club this afternoon received notification from the Football Association of their decision to charge Luis Suarez and will take time to properly review the documentation which has been sent to us.
We will discuss the matter fully with him when he returns from international duty, but he will plead not guilty to the charge and we expect him to request a personal hearing.
Luis remains determined to clear his name of the allegation made against him by Patrice Evra.
The Club remain fully supportive of Luis in this matter.
With this coming just as Sepp Blatter's comments on racism have been revealed, it's hiked the racism issue up even more.
If you click on the link you'll see his comments or the article is second on the front page.
Regarding Suarez, this doesn't mean he's guilty obviously, however the FA must have evidence to charge him and seeing as nobody has uncovered video evidence it could be he's mentioned in his own statement to them that he said something, dammed himself without realising how serious those comments are.
That's just a guess.
Just copy and pasting my comment on the Wunter thread:
Strange wording there from the FA with 'It is alleged'. What's changed since 4 weeks ago when Evra 'alleged' that Suarez racially abused him? Have there been more allegations from another party?
Surely they must've found some sort of evidence otherwise they wouldn't have charged him but this still hasn't cleared anything up.
It'll be very interesting to see what sort of evidence it is.
This should have been dealt with four weeks ago, dragging it out this long is just usual FA shambolic authority behavior. Same with the Terry and Anton allegations. IMO, if someone as acted racially then they should be punished and if someone as claimed to have been racially abused but are proved not to have been, they should be punished to the same degree. Whoever is proved to be in the wrong, punish them and move on.
yes but with a lack of video evidence these things take time. I dont think there should be a rush! take their time, come to the proper conclusion - punishments dished out, and move on.
Not four weeks though!
As long as the right decision is made in this certain area then the FA will rightly take time to sort out the accusations.
I mean how long do you want them to take?
Do you want them to be half-arsed in this situation?
Of course not, I obviously want them to make the right decision but just don't see how that can take four weeks.
Interview two players, the ref and maybe some teammates plus watch a couple of videos. Four weeks...???
Linesman,stewards/police,very likely other players.
A cross reference of the players involved. Then you have the legal side to it ie lawyers, agents protecting there property ...'cough' I mean player
Even if the things you say were true, I'd say you were the problem for highlighting such things!
