A couple of days ago, Ukrainian TV commentator Roman Naguchev claimed on Twitter that Ufa attacking midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko would be joining Manchester City next season.
The youngster recently became Ukraine's youngest goalscorer at the age of 19 years and 214 days, breaking Andrei Shevchenko's 20-year-old record, and reports have suggested Borussia Dortmund are also interested in signing him.
His agent Oleg Eremin refused to comment on reports linking him to Manchester City, but revealed he is yet to receive any offers for the player.
It seems Italian website Calciomercato have some more information to add on reports linking Zinchenko to Manchester City, in the way that they always claim to know the inside line on any transfer.
Calciomercato reckon Pep Guardiola 'wrote a letter to Santa Claus Mansour' after the signing of Ilkay Gundogan, asking him to sign Zinchenko, and he put the Ukrainian midfielder's name on top of his wish-list.
That's not all. They say Zinchenko is taking English lessons from former Arsenal player Emmanuel Frimpong, who also plays for Ufa, to make sure he is ready when Pep Guardiola calls him.
We must say Frimpong must be a brilliant tutor for the 19-year-old, the former Arsenal player will no doubt teach Zinchenko some of the more colourful aspects of the English language.
Arsenal fans, who probably still have a soft spot for the strangely likeable Frimpong, will be pleased to know he's putting his skills to good use.
