Jose Mourinho speaks to Argentine international ahead of Chelsea bid

There are few footballers who have played under Jose Mourinho who don't worship the man. Chief among them is perhaps PSG's Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish international often praises Mourinho and went to great lengths in his excellent autobiography to explain what made the manager so great.

'He wanted my loyalty, but I liked him straight away. He works twice as hard as all the rest. Lives and breathes football 24/7. I’ve never met a manager with that kind of knowledge about the opposing sides. It was everything, right down to the third-choice goalkeeper’s shoe size.

It was a while before I met him. He’s elegant, he’s confident, but I was surprised. He looked small next to the players but I sensed it immediately: there was this vibe around him.

Mourinho would become a guy I was basically willing to die for.'

This reputation spreads and when a player is linked to Chelsea there will surely be excitement at the chance to work with the manager. But imagine you were a team mate of Ibrahimovic's and you'd listened to some of his tales of how great Mourinho is, you'd also played in Italy and watched Mourinho conquer the league, and, now, the man himself picks up the phone and tells you he wants to sign you.

Well, according to Fichajes, that's the situation Ezequiel Lavezzi finds himself in. It's claimed that Mourinho has been on the telephone to Lavezzi ahead of a Chelsea bid this summer. Like with a few PSG players there have been rumours that Lavezzi could be thinking about leaving the club. Fichajes say that although he's enjoyed his time in Paris the forward hasn't found it to be quite what he thought it would be and is ready for a move.

Lavezzi is flexible in attacking positions and a hard worker, two attributes which will appeal greatly to Mourinho. A move wouldn't seem to be such a bad idea for any party as PSG look ahead to another summer of spending.

Chelsea fans will be able to see what the player can do when the two sides meet in the Champions League quarter finals.
