Liverpool are interested in signing Anderlecht star Dennis Praet, according to reports in the Italian media. The 21-year-old was close to joining Arsenal when he was 16, but decided to stay at Anderlecht to complete his school education.
According to fresh claims on Gianluca Di Marzio's website, Fiorentina have contacted the Belgian side regarding a possible move for Praet, but were put off by Anderlecht's valuation of €30 million. The Italian side are also in talks with Praet's agent Jacques Lichtenstein and his father, but fear losing their target to Liverpool.
Reports in Calciomercato also suggests the same, with Liverpool seen as the main competitor and more likely destination for the Belgian international. Praet has already indicated he doesn't want to extend his contract that expires in 2017, and Anderlecht might be forced to sell on of their young stars.
Fiorentina have started the season well under new boss Paulo Sousa, and are ready to splash big money in the transfer window. The Italian side are still hoping to get a deal done for Praet, but Anderlecht must lower their valuation. It's very unlikely Liverpool will spend that kind of money in January on a young attacker, when they have bigger issues to deal with.
