Liverpool linked with Uruguayan transfer, as others appear to drop out

Edinson Cavani is reportedly negotiating a new contract with PSG, and he could now be their main striker to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, the Uruguayan international could be also considering other options for his future.

Exclusive news from the Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb says the forward desires to play in a more competitive league, as his family pushes for a move to England, which is being considered by the player.

The article only mentions Liverpool as a potential destination in England. Atletico Madrid would also be interested, but it would be unlikely for the Spanish club to offer a good salary deal compared to the one the player has in Paris.

TuttoMercatoWeb consider Juventus to be ruled out by now, which is an interesting claim since they were reported as the strongest competitors in the race for the striker until a few months ago.

Liverpool are being repeatedly linked with strikers, with Gonzalo Higuain the centre of attention this week, maybe Edinson Cavani fancied a go.
