Atheltic Club Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte has been tipped to sign for Manchester City in the summer, after reports indicated Manchester City have agreed to trigger his release clause of €50m.
It is said incoming City boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Laporte, and he made a special request to the club to sign the French defender.
The English and Spanish media have been quite confident of the transfer taking place in the summer, with reports also suggesting there is already an agreement with the player.
But Bilbao's president, Josu Urrutia, might not be aware of that. Urrutia has told Spanish daily Sport that Laporte has never informed them about wanting to leave in the summer, but refused to reveal, if the player has been offered a new contract at the club.
Laporte's contract ends in the summer of 2019 at the Basque club, and a new contract must have been offered by now, if he is really in their future plans.
Also, the fact that City have agreed to pay his entire release clause could be the reason Laporte is yet to inform Urrutia about his possible exit, as there isn't much negotiations to be done with the Basque club.
