Following Paris Saint-Germain’s exit from the Champions League after losing to Manchester City over two legs, articles surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future have been constant in the European media.
While the French are trying to make it clear to Laurent Blanc now is the time to move on from the Swede, the English and Italian media are attempting to lure him to their respective countries.
This was made very clear by Corriere dello Sport on Friday as they covered the possibility of Zlatan returning to AC Milan, where he previously spent two seasons, including one on loan, between 2010 and 2012.
One problem faced by the Italian side, however, is the amount of money their beloved striker is expected to ask salary wise, considering he would be arriving on a free.
This is where clubs like Manchester United have the upper hand, as Corriere report the Swedish international has requested the Premier League club to pay him €3m/month, which is double what he currently earns at PSG, and equates to £550k/week.
This would put Zlatan ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for the last couple of years of his career, something we're sure he’d love.
It may seem like a lot, but considering he wouldn’t cost any money due to him being out of contract, it is a relatively viable option.
With no bonuses, this would add up to £28.6m spent in a season, which would be the same as paying £10m for Zlatan and giving him similar wages to Wayne Rooney.
We’re not saying this will happen, but it could be a lot worse if it did.
That said, most United fans would probably prefer that money to be spent on someone like Romelu Lukaku instead.
