All this talk of bringing back NRC and also to try and inject a bit of humour into the lives of villa supporters (and let's face it, we need it after this week!), got me thinking about out recent 'nearly' players and whether we could put a team out better than we have at the moment. This is mine -

Enckleman
Small
Davies
Scimeca
Samuels
Draper
Curcic
Thompson
Hadji
Allback
Carbone

Subs:

Carson
De la Cruz
Salifou
Maloney
Djemba-djembe
Sutton
Moore (Stefan)

Tempted to include Savo because of the bandana but he did score that cracker against Leeds at Wembley!

Wouldn't want any of them back, all useless
They were all useless (although I thought Scimeca showed promise), but I think they would still beat our current first team.

would take Alan Thompson, Davies and Maloney back. And probably Djembe-Djembe - but only cause he had a cool name.

It does highlight how many awful players we have bought over the years

Maloney is fine, key to Wigan's current team. Sutton did OK considering it was the twilight of his career, a class footballer.

Question: did we ever sign Neil Lennon? The summary of his career in Wikipedia suggests not, but seem to remember we did, and he never had a first team game because Gregory(?) said he wasn't training hard enough.

A good description of NRC is Confident, Gritty, Arrogant , opinionated, big headed, focused, a leader on the pitch and an organiser!

Which current Villa player would you compare him to in our current squad?

The guy has no club and is available, he has his limits but during his first spell at the club i never once remember him not putting in a shift!

I think what happened is his attitude upset one or two people! I think one or two people need to be upset at the moment dont you!

UTV

Andy - sums up NRC nicely. Not a comfortable fit in the dressing room. But we don't want a comfortable fit in the dressing room. We need somebody with attitude, particularly on the pitch.

What about Harry Forrester? Seems to be playing OK for Brentford, 8 goals this season.
