Horrible, horrible news about the lad. Out for nine months with cruciate ligament damage, very similar to what Gary Gardner had a couple of seasons ago. Just when I was starting to feel optimistic about our chances.
Hope everything goes well for him in his recovery.
damn and f$%^ that is bad news .. so we have the same personnel as last time round.
lets hope clark/baker can mature and improve .. and the team tactics evolve or afford more protection ... and we defend better as a unit
oh god we are f.....ed
thats sad news indeed. At least there are a few at the club who have come through the sort of injury he has, namely Delph and Gardner. It will be a long road, but i wish him all the best.
Great pity. I was hoping it wasn't too bad as he walked off, but clearly not. With anterior cruciate ligament damage there's really no option but a long spell recovering. At least he'll get full support at Villa, including from previous sufferers Vlaar, Delph and Gardner. He'll be back.
In the meantime, I think we can cover, provided not more than one of Clark, Baker and Vlaar get injured at a time. But they could. All three are more experienced than last year though, and we're not failing at set pieces like we were.
I feel a little guilty now when sat in my seat in the Holte Saturday i thought , get up you big tit , you only fell over ! Apologies Mr Okore !
thats the spirit brisbane!
he cursed many compatriots if he did! half the youth team are irish
a similar sort of sporting curse is said to have been cast in a small town called foxford in co Mayo in 1951 by an irate Priest on a then celebrating all ireland football champions Mayo team. (County Mayo that is in the west)
apparently they didn't stop and observe or pay their respect to a funeral passing as they went from town to town celebrating. the curse was supposed to have been along the lines of Mayo will not win another all Ireland while any of the team members of time still lived
and they haven't .. its 62 years now and Mayo have not won an all-Ireland football title since.
although not for want of trying. next Sunday will be Mayo's 6th appearance in the final since 1989 - Some say the curse is weakening!
ok most don't give a flying shite about the so called curse but its a tangent i thought was completely worth mentioning and i now believe all the forum members on here have now had their lives enriched for learning of it.
honnnnnnnn Mayo !!!
ps, Brisbane lion. I am pretty certain you may see a build up of GAA jerseys round the place this coming weekend. notable green and red jerseys or sky blue with a darker blue trim. if you weren't already aware why, you now know its just all Ireland football final day)
although last time i checked, brisbane had an afl team and had a converted irish Gaa player on their books who is my name sake (Colm Begley) . I have just read he didn't make it in the end and is now back in ireland playing GAA again for his home county Laois.
