Reading and Sheffield United sent scouts to the game between Arsenal U21s and Stoke City U21s on Friday night. Arsenal could be looking to loan some of their youngsters in the New Year in order for some to get first team experience.
The loan window is also still open until Wednesday for last minute emergencies.
Scouts in Attendance have revealed Reading and Sheffield Untied officials were present to see Stoke City win 2-1, and they were joined by Queens Park Rangers. There have been no concrete reports to who the three clubs were watching on Friday, but it's been suggested Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi could be loaned in order to get more playing opportunities.
The 19 year old has been unable to force himself into Arsene Wenger’s plans this season, and a move to a club who could give him senior football would be beneficial for his progress.
Iwobi made his debut for Arsenal this season after coming through the club’s youth system. In October he came on a second half substitute in the North London side’s 3-0 victory over Swansea City, but hasn’t been involved with the first team squad since then. The Nigeria international can be utilised either as a forward or a winger.Tweet
