What changes would you make for this game?
I'll go for
Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Luna, Bacuna, Delph, Syllia, Tonev, Benteke, Gabby.
Can't see Lambert making that many changes though.
We just have to beat that smug manager who it appears was always going to Everton in spite of his chairman's rude remarks about Villa.
Onwards and Upwards
I would also swap in Clark for Baker, as Baker seems to have at least a mistake a game in him, always.
I think that Bacuna will keep his place at rb, and KEA will remain in the middle, as he has looked pretty sharp the last few games.
I would as well, but Clark suddenly disappeared from last week's squad so I'm wondering if he's injured. Apart from that, a midfield of Bacuna, Delph and Sylla is worth a go. I'm wondering about Helenius instead of Tonev, playing Helenius in the hole, as in
There is no way that Helenius is ready for a PL game against Everton. Tonev, maybe, but not Helenius.
Clark got a bug last Friday that's why he did not play.
Hopefully Lukaku picks up a slight injury which will rule him out nothing to serious for the lad just enough so he don't play against us.
The only change I would make is bring in Sylla for Westwood because with him in there I think we can stop Everton and our front three will have too much for them.
Benteke should start even if he plays 60 mins he gives the whole place a massive lift the crowd and players will be up for it.
Gabby and Weimann both to start as they play much better when Benteke is up front and as long as Gabby and Andi play close to Benteke we will win.
Bacuna Vlaar Baker Luna
Sylla Delph KEA
Gabby Benteke Weimann
I am not sure who i would drop for this but based on form alone.
for the last few games, westwood, weimann have been very short of form.
When Weimann has got himself involved in our more promising moves. He completely killed them with some poor decision making or trying to do too much.
Westwood is probably a little low in confidence at the moment.
I would use him as a sub to calm things down and retain possession if we have a lead towards the end.
I think more than anything i want to see us try a different approach to what i have seen against city, hull and spurs
ie the sit back and break. I would like to see us retain the ball more but i don't think we have the players
in lieu of that if we can't break teams down with creativity through the center and we can't rely on the counter attack at home. I wouldn't mind see a bit of width .. and genuine width being used.
Everton have done well this season because they can retain the ball for longer and they have a genuine supply to their front men.
we can't hold the ball, and we don't offer any real supply to our front men, they either receive the ball directly or its a counter attack.
I wish we could impose ourselves more.
My prediction for this one is 1-2 to Everton
Please prove me wrong Villa!
Gabby and Albrighton on the wings would give us some width, with maybe Tonev in behind, and Delph and Sylla/KEA holding. Clark in for Baker as well. Or maybe even Sylla and Westwood holding and push Delph further on, as he is the only midfielder that we have that can get even close to being dangerous going forward.
Bacuna Vlaar Clark Luna
Albrighton Delph Gabby
Clark is fit so will play alongside Vlaar. Would keep Bacuna at right back. Definitely drop Westwood for this one but I think he should stick with Weimann on the right. I hope we line up like this:
Bacuna Vlaar Clark Luna
Subs: Steer, Baker, Lowton, Westwood, Tonev, Helenius, Kozak.
When N'Zogbia ever gets fit, I'd have him in the hole behind Benteke with Sylla dropped to the bench, and next season when Okore is back I'd have him over Clark I think - maybe switching Clark to left back.]
Everton are a good side and this will be tough but if Benteke starts I think we can win. Everton are not on Spurs' level. Will be tough though. A point wouldn't be a bad result but a win is achievable if we can perform better than against Tottenham. Our next two home games are Cardiff and Sunderland - we must win those for sure and start picking up wins at home if we want to finish top half. Our start has not been easy so we should be able to accumulate quite a few points from now to Christmas and hopefully be in the top 8 come new year.
