There are reports in Portugal that Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to the Belenenses and Sporting Lisbon match last night. The Premier League side have been active in Portugal over the weekend after we covered the story yesterday that they also attended the FC Porto and Guimarães match on Friday night.
O Jogo have reported that Tottenham were at the game last night along with a number of other Premier League sides. The game ended in a 1-1 draw between the two Lisbon clubs which helped Sporting Lisbon keep in touch with the league leaders. There have been no concrete reports as to who Tottenham were watching last night but they have had dealings with Sporting Lisbon in the past six months. During the summer they brought in Eric Dier from the Portuguese club and in January they held talks over a possible move for Miguel Lopes, although he was ruled out of the game on Saturday because of injury.
Lopes was linked with Tottenham in the summer but a serious injury meant the Premier League side had to pull out of a deal for the defender. Since then the Portugal international has returned from his long layoff and therefore Tottenham are again interested in him. We reported during the last transfer window that Tottenham officials had travelled to Portugal to hold talks with Sporting Lisbon over Lopes. The English side hired an agent to help them in discussions with Sporting Lisbon in the same way they had conducted talks for Dier.
