Tottenham set to offload both Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone to raise cash

It seems inevitable that Tottenham will lose Luka Modric this summer but fans of the London club wouldn't have thought they'd see any other big names heading for the exit door. Several of the team have been linked by the Italian press to Inter Milan, as part of a deal for Julio Cesar, and Gallas was thought to be one who could be offloaded but the two mentioned in the press today are players most thought would be with Spurs for some time.

England internationals Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone were seen as something Andre Villas Boas could build on but the Independent today say that QPR have offered £8m for Dawson and Stoke City want to take Huddlestone, who the Portuguese manager doesn't see as part of his plans, on loan for the season presumably with a view to a permanent deal.

Dawson has been Tottenham Hotspur captain in the past but his injury problems, especially last season, have obviously left Andre Villas Boas feeling like he can't rely on him and he hasn't been involved fully in pre-season - much the same as Tom Huddlestone who finds himself surplus to requirements despite the club being on the verge of losing another senior midfielder.

The former Chelsea manager wants to employ a pressing and high energy game, like he did so successfully with Porto and failed to do with Chelsea, but players who are regarded as prone to fitness issues could struggle with such roles and, if the Independent are right, Villas Boas would rather take what he can get for them and move on.

COMPLETE TOSH never gonna happen these are two of the top players in our squad they are both just back from season long injuries so its like two new signings the reason they were both left out at the weekend is they are short on game time so AVB is working them back in slowly why would we weaken our squad like this. I wish jurnos would at least come up with a believable story to fill there pages COYS

Eric, did you get any further on your insistence that Adam Johnson was a left winger and it was ridiculous to suggest he played on the right?

Eric? Eric?
