Just picked up that we are about to sign Birkir Bjarnason from FC Basel (subject to a medical)- centre midfielder. This was done on the quiet - good signing if it goes through? (about £2m).

Haven't seen that yet but Bree has signed  a 4 half year deal from Barnsley.

well done all

Yep - should be a good signing, especially as it was rumoured a number of premier clubs were sniffing round.

Could mean there's doubt about the Hourihane deal. Hope not.

Bruce's priority seems to be a massive strengthening of the midfield rather than bolstering the attack. Certainly it's the midfield where battles are won in this division. Would still like Rhodes, though.

Rhodes and Hourihane would be great - although Boro may be holding out for nearly £12m - which is too much unless we sell McCormack? Good news that Kodjia is on his way back.

Good work Bruce that's how i like to see transfer's done under the radar keeping quite and the first fan's know about it it is all but a done deal .

Sound's like a half decent player as well good addition to our midfield that was needed .

Let's just hope the lock gate's are not shut so he has no trouble docking his long ship to get to training .

We'll all have to practice clapping in unison over our heads, that'll frighten the wotsit out of our opponents.

Well done two problems addressed RB and midfield, very pleased.

A good window so far, Hourihane very likely to sign soon.

For me we need McCormack out and a striker in, then look up and hope we can make a dramatic push for the play offs.

If we don't make it this season, then a pre season for Bruce, maybe one or two quality signings and we should be favourites next season!!

A decent striker to take the load of Kodjia would be massive. As for midfield, we've gone from being very thin to having a good depth:

Jedi, Lansbury, Hourihane(?), Bjarnason, Adomah, Tshibola, Grealish, Bacuna

No room for Gardner or Westwood?

We've 10 games coming up in just over 5 weeks, and that sort of depth, if the players click, could make a huge difference.

Hourihane in. We now have the sort of midfield we need (health check: if the players are as good as they seem to be); we've long lacked a midfield capable of being the engine-room of the team, but now it seems we have one.

Gaps left: still think we need a proven striker. And a bit worried about backup for our central defence. But this new midfield should have positive effects at both ends of the field.

I am not particularly a fan of Bruce but he is the first manager for a long time who recognises that the midfield isn't up to it.

I really don't know these players but by all accounts they are pretty good.

So well done Bruce and especially the doctor for funding in January on top of a largely wasted £50m in the summer (well at least a good part of it).

Well McP it now appears that you are on the same wavelength as me ?

If this mid field lives up to its expectations & ability then even Flabby will score goals !

How many bottles of ouzo did you drink?

Flabby scoring goals really!
