We all know Granit Xhaka is leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach, and we all know his likely destination is going to be Arsenal in the Premier League.
The player himself has hinted heavily to it in the past, and all reports point in that general direction.
Saying yesterday that London is a ‘beautiful city’ and Arsenal are an ‘awesome club’, Gunners fans around the world are eagerly anticipating any sort of confirmation, but Thursday isn’t going to be taht day, it seems.
Speaking to FM1 Today in Switzerland, the player was asked about whether his move to Arsenal was a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’, and the player remained coy on his future.
He said: “Yesterday, the offer was officially confirmed. Today, nothing has changed. For me it is important that there is decision before the European Championships.”
This means the player is still at Gladbach for the time being, but if/when the transfer goes through, Xhaka will become the most expensive Swiss player of all time; something he is very proud of.
He explained: “It’s an honour for me. It’s a reward from my hard work.”
If anything changes in the next few days, be sure we’ll let you know.
