Tottenham need one or two strikers - urgently

Kane has potential but needs a year or so.

Pochetino apparently doesn't think Soldado can be a lead striker. Ade has demonstrated time and again that his inconsistent and lackadaisical efforts will not do the trick. To ensure they are in contention, Spurs need to target at least one and preferably 2 of Hernandez, Welbeck, Destro, Bony.

Decisions, opinions and keeping away from Ray

Maghull 6-1 Hale

Wednesday 20th August 2014 kick off 6.30pm

After Saturdays loss, it was nice to see the lads get back to winning ways.

The game took some time to come to life and if truth be told, maybe the first ten minutes gave cause for concern again. One or two good defensive challenges and sweeping up by the keeper, kept the fiesty visitors out.

Maghull came to life and began creating chances. Two good efforts from Michael Boyle came…

South Liverpool 2-1 Maghull

Saturday 16th August 2014 kick off 3pm

Not much to say about this game, other than it didn't work and South deserved the win.

If the game was on chances alone, it could have been a hiding. Fortunately a decent save here and there, some poor finishing and a couple of great blocks kept the scoreline close.

The referee may not have had his best game ever and I think he got Robert Nadines first booking wrong, but…

The Champions return, a tough encounter and ability wins the day

Maghull 3-1 Southport Trinity

Wednesday 13th August 2014 kick off 6.30pm

The much awaited return of the West Cheshire League Champions, came in a much tougher game than expected.

In a hard fought first half, Southport had the better of the play. A little extra fight and zip about their passing, though not much in the way of end product. They did, though, take the lead. Some may say, they had the temerity, to go ahead, in what was supposed to be the…

First competitive game, a cloud burst and a tough victory

Maghull 4-1 Newton

Bill Weight semi final

Tuesday 5th August 2014 kick off 6.30pm

Sorry it's late peeps.

Blame that slavedriver, I have as a boss. Been bloody shattered all week.

So, we had a game with meaning, at last.

Newton, a side I kind of have a soft spot for, no idea why, came along and made a good fight of this one.

Phil Staffords lads had played some quality sides, all at a much higher level, during the pre season. Of…
