The Player Power Spiral of Destruction

Plenty will be written for the next few weeks about the wonder that has become Carlos Tevez's affair with Manchester City. We know full well that Mancini believes he refused to play last night in their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich, and Tevez believes he was ready to play, and there was just 'confusion' on the bench. Well,…

These foolish things...hatred in football

I do not often, if ever, quote the Bible. Largely because I am agnostic and know little of its content.

However, there is one passage in Corinthians which mentions faith, hope and charity.

I’m not 100% sure how it goes but the greatest of these , it goes on to say is Charity, which has latterly become ‘Love’ in recent translations. It goes on.. ‘When I was a child I thought as a child , when I became a man I put away foolish things’ I paraphrase but that’s the gist of… Continue

Football fans are notoriously fickle, and team Managers are often the first to feel the brunt of disenchantment which can follow a defeat or two, let alone three! Even mere dissatisfaction with performance and tactical outlook can send rumblings of discontent up the stairs to the boardroom causing Directors to sidestep responsibility and look for scapegoats. Usually the prime suspects lurk nervously in offices with a ‘Manager’ sign on the door.

When Roberto Mancini arrived at what…

Random Thoughts - Six Weekend Musings of a Football Fan

Football can be a complicated thing. In the space of a few days your whole world can turn upside down. Last year when Wayne Rooney refused to sign a new contract for his club, it felt like a dagger in my back and the back of every United fan. Now of course, he is king again, kind of. More recently, in the last few weeks, I've went from loving Owen Hargreaves, to pitying him, to laughing at him, to being really confused and now a real dislike is growing as he becomes…

Great Start To The Season - 1 Arse - 0

There aren't many teams who can boast about the fact that they have won the Premier League. Four, in fact - Manchester United, Blackburn, Chelsea, and Arsenal. But does Arsenal's apparent demise seem to show that all clubs can fall from the very top?

Played five, won one, drawn one, lost three. Arsenal's current record in the league is a sight for sore eyes.…

FA - Farcical Association of England

Once again I look back at a weekend where crucial, and ridiculous, decisions are made by the referees and the authorities that govern them. Two offsides, a dodgy penalty, a red card tackle and a clear cut penalty all in one match, all in one of the biggest matches, for both teams, even at this stage of the season. Manchester United won, Chelsea felt hard done by, whilst the officials walked away with the tag 'Shocking' written all over their face. As much as this match excited with some…

Manchester United and the 4-3-3

Manchester United and the 4-3-3

Ever since Redondo’s nutmeg on Henning Berg that lead to a Raul goal on the counter attack and the arrival of Queiroz, Fergusson has changed his tactics in the champions league. Instead of going gung-ho with an attacking 4-4-2 he now uses a more conservative 4-3-3 approach. Although this approach has yielded great results over the past 5 seasons with United reaching at least the semis on 4 occasions, I do not think united have the…

Football Conspiracies - Whats really going on behind the curtain?

Nathan Eccleston has made the headlines today with a few choice comments on his Twitter, the Liverpool youth player has said he believes 9/11 was not the work of terrorists but the mysterious Illuminati! With Eccleston announcing on his twitter a few of his conspiracy theories, I’ve decided to look into a few suspicious goings on in the world of football myself, these are the kind of thing even Nathan Eccleston is too afraid to talk about.…
