Firing on a lack of cylinders, a nightmare between the sticks and was it offside

Old Xavarians 1-3 Maghull

Saturday 20th September  kick off 2pm

I would like to comment on the first half, but work duties and misinformation deigned my appearance to be at the half time whistle. When I thought I was early. Believe me, Natalie (a customer at work) was partly to blame and seems I am to know if it is a cup game, it will kick off at 2pm. Lesson learned

So, I have been told that Maghull should have been 3-0 up at the break, others claim…

Three strikes and out, the calm in the storm and the Stamper of disapproval

Rainhill Town 0-3 Maghull

Tuesday 16th September 2014  kick off 7pm  at Bootle FC

Thanks to the M62 and Liverpool stupidly deciding to play a home game while a final is on, caused my arrival was somewhat late. Thus missing the electric start of proceedings. So the ghost has snook in for the first 15 minutes.

A new centre back pairing, due to injury and suspension came forth, bringing with it a return of the old man …

When is a pen a pen, a keepers master class and Mike Cummins inspiration

West Kirby 1 - 2 Maghull

Saturday 13th September 2014  kick off 3pm

This game was a travesty of justice.

A stonewall penalty not given, a crazy one given and West Kirby decided to throw Davy Crockett, Bill Travis and Jim Bowie in goal.

What the West Kirby keeper didn't stop, either went wide or over the top.…

This game was a travesty of justice.

A stonewall penalty not given, a crazy one given and West Kirby decided to throw Davy Crockett, Bill Travis and Jim Bowie in goal.

What the West Kirby keeper didn't stop, either went wide or over the top. Other than the two efforts that got past him, that he had no chance with whatsoever.

It really was, one of the most one sided 2-1 wins…

A big non league day, a couple of follow ups and going through the gears

Maghull 5 - 1 Capenhurst Villa

Saturday 6th September 2014 kick off 3pm

Another home win, another bag full of goals. The only disappointment was the final tally !

This really should have been, many, many more. And from a side with seven enforced changes from last weeks outing and more on the bench. Against a side who played good football, not a percentage game.

There was a touch of deja vu about this match, casting minds back seven days. A…

An opening pair, a set of three and four of a kind.

Maghull 7 -0 Blacon YC

Saturday 30th August 2014 kick off 3pm

Some new signings for today, may have sparked some new inspiration into the side. And competition for places is always a good thing. Keeps players on their toes. No doubt some words in the dressing came about after the midweek fiasco, but the much needed response did come.

The pattern was set very early, with that much needed pace, causing a multitude of issues for the Blacon back four. For a…

Grim, not picking up the pieces and throwing in the towel

Mossley Hill 3 - 0 Maghull

Wednesday 27th August 2014 kick off 6.15pm  league

For those of you that read these things, you may have found a pattern forming in the last few seasons.

I don't praise, I don't slaughter. Unless en masse !

This performance, in my eyes, needed an almighty mullering.

It was the closest I have known to a surrender, since that bloke Custer threw his hands in the air and Sitting Bull took the honours. And we even…
