Decimation, it's a funny old game and that's how to end a season.

Maghull 1 - 1 Heswall

Monday 29th April 2013 kick off 6.45pm

The English weather decided to throw it's might at us for our last game of the season. Blinding sunlight, coupled with lashings of rain and a chill that would have the Fox's glacier mint bear looking for some warmth.

Together, with seeing how many players where missing (Connor Wright made his first team bow from the Youth Team, as a second half substitute) and it being a probable, dull, end of…

Injuries, tales of woe and those end of season blues.

Maghull 2 - 4 Blacon YC

Saturday 27th April 2013 kick off 3pm

Not a lot to say about Saturday.

It was one of those languid, do we really have to play this fixture, kind of affairs.

Both sides had created half chances, in a very low key first half, Blacon were just fortuitous, in that Maghulls defending was not up to scratch. And they could not believe their luck when going off at half time, three goals to the good. Maybe a one goal lead would have been a…

Staying awake, giving false impressions but safety first.

Maghull 2 - 2 Upton AA

Wednesday 24th April 2013 kick off 6.45pm

Ok, when did the Lord Mayor show up ?

I think I have been pretty fair with the lads this season. Even when we have found ourselves at a pretty low ebb, a search has been on for the chink of light, that spark that will ignite our nights and bring three precious points to the cause, that we all strive for. Praise was thrown on the team after those sterling performances at Vauxhalls and Heswall. Likewise when…

Party poopers, real troopers and super doopers (god that sounds cheesy)

Heswall 1 - 1 Maghull

Monday 21st April 2013

There is no better place to start, than the start. But what an ending.

The league trophy was at the ready, our management had been asked if our players would stay on the pitch for the presentation at the end of the game. But a point was not enough and the trophy went back in it's box to be presented on another day. And all due to a richly deserved equaliser in time added on.

So shall we start ?

A very…

The wind, the rain and a bit of a Hale storm

Hale 1 v 2 Maghull

Wednesday 17th April 2013

Ok it didn't rain, though it should have rained goals, the amount of chances that we had. But it was decidedly windy.

A game that had its pace and skill dictated by the conditions, or should I say, of Hurricane Bertha. Or whatever it's name was called. The dastardly wind, blowing up the river, was a pest to both sides throughout the match.

Defending against mighty Bertha in the first half, Maghull seemed to manage the…

Down memory lane with ELO, Thin Lizzy and Frankie Valli !?!?

Maghull 2 - 1 Ashville

Monday 15th April 2013

A glorious spring evening greeted the teams out onto the pitch. An immaculate minutes silence was held prior to the engagement (you only need the date, 15th April) and away we went with Mr Blue Sky in attendance, together with a decent crowd.

A fiesty start saw both sides come out of the blocks quickly. No clear cut openings, but did give the promise of a tasty encounter to come. And we where not…
