A new title, a labrador and a visit from bram stoker

For the second time this pre season, a visiting side turns up at Old Hall Field and leaves with a resounding confidence boost.

After a much needed draw against South Liverpool (1-1) and another 1-1 draw with Hale, only to lose on penalties, this was a massive comedown against, what must be said, was not exactly top class opposition. I am now beginning to think that Maghull only score .... when I am not there.

A scrappy start got no better when, what Americans would call a punt, was allowed to bounce 25 yards from goal. A forward did a moses impression and raced into the gap.Result, a lifted shot over the advancing keeper and a large sense of deja vu. Then came the vampires.

In classic Liverpool style of the nineties, crosses became a bit of a problem. One prior to the oranges and one in the second half demise. Together, with some more questionable defending and two more goals from decent, but stoppable moves from the visitors.

Two good efforts, one in each half, from Sean Chart (pitbull) and Marko, brought very good saves from the keeper. But they where two lights in a very dark performance.

A huge improvement is needed for Saturdays game against Edge Hill Boys. Confidence will be low, but character building comes from such situations. Here is hoping for some character and something for Mike Joyce to work with. Potential is there, unfortunately, so is the ability for the head to drop.

It was a shame the blonde with the labrador vanished, or the evening viewing may not have been so painful. Here is to IMPROVEMENT !
