A tough away trip, walking the ball into the net and definitely not Danny Dillon

Mallaby 0-1 Maghull

Saturday 26th October 2013 kick off 3pm

The long trip to Mallaby promised many things, after last weeks annihilation of Chester Nomads. Not many were forthcoming, but the biggest promise was kept. Three valuable points.

Mallaby proved to be a very decent outfit and their league position seems to be a false one, on this showing.

If truth be told, they were the better side on the day. Plenty of possession, some decent play, but alas, for them, also some woeful finishing.

Maghull did not get going at all, but could have left here with a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline. Contradiction ? Not really. The second half produced many chances for Maghull, only some wayward choices when in front of goal and a fair performance by Mallabys keeper kept the scoreline down. Whereas Mallaby caused more consternation to the foliage behind the goals than the keeper. Though they nearly struck a crippling blow, by striking the upright in the last fifteen minutes.

It wasn't the best of games and one that will happily be placed in the, we got the points, that's all that matters, memory bank.

The only goal came mid way through the first half, when Ryan Stamper eluded a shocking challenge, played Steve Williams in down the line who hit a great cross to the back post where Paul Jackson came in and headed home. A very good goal and the only real highlight of the match.

Let us move on and see what another away day fixture brings next weekend. And maybe a few less injuries to cope with too.

The picture ? My spelling mistake last week....

Next game : Blacon YC away Saturday November 2nd 2013 kick off 2pm.
