A whodunit, who didn't do it and why didn't they

West Kirby & Wasps 0 - 4 Maghull

Saturday September 12th 2015  kick off 3pm

I suffered a half time telling off on Saturday. It should have been the other way round.
So in response, I will say only this. Keep your eyes on the game !

Now, this first half.
Awful !
Painful to watch !
Shocking !

How on earth a team can dominate a game so much and waste so many chances is a conundrum we should not be pondering. But I was, on my way home.

Jay Hooper helped himself to a brace and Brad Smart struck from a free kick, but three nil at the break really should have been six or seven. And that is being kind to West Kirby. But you know I am not one for criticism of individuals, so we shall leave it there. But no woofers or any other distractions could be blamed for not having killed this game off way before half time.

A change by the hosts at half time changed the game a little, in the early stages of the second half. For a while, Maghull played like they had the game wrapped up and caused themselves a few problems, though no real concern came from West Kirby. The best effort being a long range shot close to the end of the match. Once Maghull had got to grips with the changes, they played a very well on the counter attack and again created chances (and missed them) and after having plenty of joy down the left hand side in the first half, they raided down West Kirbys right inn the second. They then proceeded to carve the hosts wide open through the middle and frustration took over again, as still the scoreline did not change.

The fourth finally came inside the last ten minutes, when Keiron (?) Turner was played clear and calmly placed the ball wide of the advancing keeper.

I was told not to be greedy, 4-0 away from home is a fabulous scoreline. I am greedy and it should have been ten or more. And that would not have flattered the lads. A couple of years ago I commented that someone was going to get a hiding and it happened very soon afterwards. The chances the side have created this season (and missed) makes me think that is going to happen again. If all goes well in one match !
