End of season blues, a late shock, now let's get the double lads.

Maghull 1-1 Mossley Hill
Saturday 26th April 2014 kick off 3pm

Saturday was a bit of a strange day, to say the least.

The title wrapped up, a cup final on it's way and a fulfilling of league fixtures. But it shouldn't have been.

The chance to put a win on the board, against all league opponents, slipped by in a sloppy performance.

It felt like a loss, after this seasons performances, but Maghull FC's exitlude from the West Cheshire League programme, of 2013/14 ended with the first draw of the season.

The first half was, being kind, highly uneventful. Neither side seemed to show much in the way of endeavour. So we shall leave it there.

The second half, brought about pretty much the same kind of fare. But it did produce two very good goals. Though I am sure both managers, will say they were silly goals to concede.

Maghull took the lead, with the only bit of class they showed on the day. A short free kick saw Steve Williams make himself some space wide on the left. He clipped in a lovely right footed cross, which Paul Jackson, who had earlier struck the outside of the post, backheaded into the top corner. The game was now won. The Champions had took control and sneaked the win, as expected. But not with the flourish, we had hoped for.

Errm, no !

Lee Carrol had to be replaced, between the sticks, by Danny Dillon. Lee had took a blow to his wrist and though tried to play on, found that it was the best option to leave the field of play.

With a couple of minutes remaining, Mossley Hill ruined tha day. A loose bouncing ball, came the way of the visitors substitute. A good distance out, but, from where we stood, if he hit it well it was a certain goal. He caught it perfectly and the ball nestled in the net.

Neither side had what it took take sneak a late winner and the season ended with a dull feeling.

But let's not be too downhearted. Maghull FC are, after all, League Championsl. By 15 points ! And have a small matter of a Cup Final to come.
