Maghull pre season starts with a hammering

Maghull 0 Prescot Cables 5

Three leagues difference and it showed.

Got to the game late and missed the first 20 minutes, damn cat naps, to find us 2 down to a couple of free kicks early on. First half way just one way traffic.

This was to be partly expected, due to the loss of the complete first team, mainly to Ashton Town, following the ex manager along the same route.

So new manager Mike Joyce had his work cut out.

A two goal deficit at half time seemed a fairly decent score to hold on to.

Changes at half time brought about a much improved second half performance. And it would not have flattered Maghull to have at least levelled the scoreline.

Unfortunately some naive defending late on, brought three more goals for the visitors and really hurt morale.

On the plus side, till I get to know the new players names etc... I will refrain from any remarks about individual performances, suffice to say that on the second 45, I think Mike may have some semblance of a decent side for the forthcoming season.

Oh and the changes included going to a 4 4 2 from the first half 4 3 3. Not all teams have to play the same formation as Spain, to improve.
