Swapping and changing, a strange kind of trial and fading in the dark.

Maghull 0 v 3 Bootle

Thursday 25th July 2013

It has to be said, this was not the most enthralling pre season game I have ever seen.

Once again, playing against higher league opposition, this should have been a good fitness level tester and a guide to how the forthcoming season may pan out.

It really did neither.

Though I am sure Phil Stafford gained much food for thought, from the game.

An early goal conceded, did nothing to dampen the Maghull play. They were far from overawed and though not producing any real cutting edge in the opposition box, did have as much of the play and were very rarely threatened themselves.

Plenty of player changes may not have assisted in producing any kind of cohesion to the game. So, in the spirit of fitness being the main criteria,we shall pass off the lack of spectacle on show.

Two late goals, put a gloss on the proceedings for the visitors, when a 1-0 scoreline would have been a much truer reflection of the game.

Sorry I cannot elaborate any more, but this really was, just a glorified training session.
