Tedium, a long ninety minutes and no need for sleeping draught

Maghull 2-0 Upton AA

Saturday 14th December 2013 kick off 2pm

Earlier in the season, it was mentioned that the reports were becoming, maybe, a little too long. Of all these thing's that i've done, this one took all my will and endeavour, to actually write.

To say, that there was more interest in what was happening at the Etihad, is an understatement. And not a blonde to be seen when needed. So let's cut to the quick and do what is necessary.

A lot of changes where made from last weeks outing, in all departments. Including a debut appearance for the youth team keeper Kevin Furlong, who did not look out of place, or his depth.

In fairness, Maghull did try to make a game of it, early on, but it was soon obvious that this was a game to be forgotten and hope the three points would come, painlessly.

And that turned out to be the bonus. No injuries, no silly red cards, just three points and move on to the next game.

Colin McDonald broke the deadlock in the first half (don't ask me when) after Paul Jackson and Steve Williams played a few passes around the Upton defence, before Williams teed up McDonald to strike the ball into the bottom corner. A very good goal, considering what had been served up prior to this.

The only other spark in the game, came with about fifteen to go, when an Upton player decided to handle in the box, for no reason whatsoever. Mick McGinn, showing his legs can last more than an hour, cracked home the spot kick and the points were sealed. And an 18 point lead at the top.

The end.

Yes it really was that grim. But as I said last week, I will take that every week now, if it brings the title to Old Hall field. Big game coming up.

Next game: Ashville home Saturday 21st December 2013 kick off 2pm

Oh and someone has cracked the theme on the reports.... Mary the American... yep, even got some yanks reading the Maghull FC site now.
