Christleton 1 - 0 Maghull
Saturday 15th March 2013 kick off 3pm
First of all, sorry Phil, but after yesterday and today, thought this had to be the pic. (Pic is on maghullfc site, for those reading on my blog)
The warning signs had been there. Some sloppy performances in the past few weeks culminated in a shocker. One step forward all those who felt they put in a shift yesterday. Only two should bother, who shall remain nameless.
I used a line, after the debacle of Cammell Lairds last season, that was probably more appropriate for yesterday.
It took just sixty seconds for the rot to kick in and for all of the possession, it just did not get any better. An un-needed back pass, a sloppy keepers touch, an embarrassing moment and the game was lost. A minute in.
Bundles of time to get it sorted and turned around, but from the sidelines, aside from the odd chance going begging, it never looked like happening.
But let's not kid ourselves that this performance was not on the cards. So now, put it in the bin, it's gone.
13 league wins on the bounce is something to be proud of and it would be nice if it was acknowledged by the West Cheshire League, as it cannot be far off, if not, a record. All good runs come to an end at some point, it is how you respond that matters.
And what better way to respond, than winning your next game and becoming Champions ! Strange anomaly that 4 points are needed, but a win will win it. Silly mathematics hey.
So let's look at it as an enterlude to the title being won. And just forget this game, as it was pretty forgetful. Summed up by Steven Kings dismissal late on for what can only be described as a frustrated challenge, but a deserved red.
You know what awaits you, two "Maghull" performances and a league and cup double is yours, if you relax and play like you know you can. Now stop faffing about and do it !
Next game : Ashville home Saturday 29th March 2014 kick off 3pm
No Liverpool or Everton games that day... so peeps, rally round and lets get a huge crowd to Old Hall Field to get behind the lads and support them in what could be a Historic day for Maghull Football Club.
